Southern Living Taps Durham as South’s “Tastiest Town”

Good news, Durhamites! Southern Living concluded its voting for the Tastiest Towns contest, and you won! Author Paula Disbrowe describes the city as “A scrappy scene of artisans devoted to coffee beans, brews, and the craft of humble foods.” Congratulations!

I’ve been a proud resident of Durham for 18 years and have never understood the bashing I’ve seen in public forums (drugs, crime, etc.). American Tobacco, DPAC, downtown revitalization, great restaurants, etc., have done much to raise the profile of the Bull City. Great asset to the greater Triangle region.

Glenn, I am completely with you in praising the things you mentioned. The main problem there is that Durham County’s crime rate is 2nd or 3rd in the state, and is WAY higher than Orange and Wake County’s. Political leaders there don’t seem interested in solving this problem proportionally.
