Runner Service Delivers IKEA
Want some IKEA products but don’t have the time or resources to make it up to Woodbridge, VA? Worry no more. Eco-modernism.com is now in their Beta offering of IKEA Runner Service . The rates and policies are well described on their page, as well as their next trip, this Friday.
Get Gas
Word from friends is that gas is gone from towns like Burnsville and Greenville. Several stations in Raleigh are also out of gas. I filled up at midnight last night for $4.30/gal and the pump was ever-so-slow. This will be a short-term problem, but the time is now to fill up.
Five Stores I Miss Most
My wife said something tonight that triggered a great topic. What five stores in Raleigh do you miss the most? (Keep the topic focused on retail instead of restaurants. That comes later)
Bear Mill Closed in TTC
Citing a 76% decrease in business since the riot a few weeks ago, the Bear Mill Store in Triangle Town Center has closed.
Gianni & Gaitano’s TTC Location Closes, No-Go for Glenwood
The News & Observer reported today that the Triangle Town Center location of Gianni & Gaitano’s closed early this week. The restaurant was padlocked by the sheriff’s department due to a lawsuit by the mall claiming $55K in back rent. The article also reports that the Gianni & Gaitano’s restaurant planned for 222 Glenwood is off, but the family’s remaining restaurants in the area are doing well financially.
REI Offers Outing Opportunities
Nobody loves the great indoors better than I, however I still get excited by the merchandise and outing opportunities offered by REI at North Hills. Below the fold is the list of courses and outings happening over the next month.
Holly Aiken’s Stitch – Soft Opening Tomorrow
Holly Aiken’s much-anticipated store will hopes to officially open at the end of the week, however tomorrow is going to be the soft opening. The store is located at 20 E Hargett Street (corner of Wilmington and Hargett). See it for yourself!
ABC Store Replacing Former Fat Daddy’s Location
The building that once housed the North Ridge Fat Daddy’s location has already been razed. Plans were submitted this week for a new ABC store (.PDF) for the site. The new store will be four times the size of the current ABC store location next door.
Studio 123 Coming to Seaboard
The spot formerly occupied by Redpin will soon be Studio 123. The store opening at the end of the month features art, art classes, painted and redecorated furniture, and more!
Studio @ Hargett and Revive Massage Open Tomorrow
Tomorrow (First Friday) marks the grand opening for the Studio @ Hargett and Revive Massage , both located in the Heilig Levine complex. This is a great addition to downtown, as it adds even more retail, not to mention 2 nd and 3 rd story retail, to Hargett Street. Revive is on the 2 nd floor, also home to Adam Cave Fine Art Gallery (whose current show was featured in yesterday’s print of The Independent), and Rebecca Nemetz’s yoga and Pilates studio, The Studio @ Hargett will take the entire 3 rd floor. The address, 115.5 E Hargett, is tucked above Landmark Tavern and Capitol Barber, and is part of the complex soon to feature Siti. I hear there will be plenty of free wine and massage samples tomorrow for the grand opening. Revive’s premise is to have a walk-in massage for the downtown crowd, which will be a tremendous addition to downtown.
McCrimmon Corners Adds Ritas, Tossed
McCrimmon Corners (on 54 in Morrisville) is expanding and will soon get another area location of Rita’s Water Ice. In August the center will also get the state’s first location of Tossed , a 30o0 square foot restaurant featuring made-to-order salads, sandwiches, crepes, soups, desserts and smoothies.
For those who have ventured down
54
Davis Drive recently, McCrimmon Corners is the shopping center on the west side of the road anchored by a Harris Teeter. It also contains the excellent Taverna Nikos and
Saffron
.
iPhone Mania Sweeps Triangle
Though there weren’t many people camping out for iPhones this year, the rush on the Apple devices has been stronger than expected (even if Apple continues to lie about the “1 million” units “sold”). AT&T stores are out of stock and taking names on an estimated 20-day waiting list. The Apples Stores, on the other hand, are announcing availability at 9pm each night on their website , and doing first-come-first-serve sales the following mornings.
There are none available in the Triangle’s two stores (Crabtree and Southpoint) as this is being posted, but check back nightly for an Apple Store update.
Sleep To Live Coming to North Hills
The Sleep To Live (Kingsdown) store will be taking the former Porto location in North Hills in the late summer.
