Skeeter Brandon: 1948-2008
North Carolina recently lost local blues great Calvin "Skeeter" Brandon. Here is a note from the band:
It is with great sorrow and a heavy heart to announce that Calvin "Skeeter" Brandon passed away Thursday March 20th at 9:00pm at age 59. As many of you know, Skeeter has suffered from a number of ailments throughout the past several years- most significantly diabetes. Known as "The Energizer Bluesman," he consistently mustered the strength to perform despite his health problems. He will be greatly missed.
Skeeter delighted audiences around the world with his gritty blues/soul voice. He had a great sense of humor and was loved by everyone he encountered. His legacy lives on through his family and his music. I know he appreciated everything everyone has done for him over the years. Thank you for honoring Skeeter and all that he gave us. Please keep Skeeter and his family in your prayers.
Arrangements are being made at:
Hester, Whitted and Daye
603 Main Street

Vanessa, Calvin’s wife, requests that all cards and flowers be sent there. Donations to help defray expenses would be a great help to the family. Checks/MOs denoting "Calvin Skeeter Brandon – Acct #2677" can be mailed to the above address.
A viewing begins at 1pm on Monday March 24th at Hester, Whitted and Daye. A wake will be held from 6- 7pm that evening.
