Summertime’s Calling North Hills
North Hills will usher in summer with a Beach Music concert series that will make a lot of people forget Alive After Five. On Thursdays at 6pm in the North Hills Commons, the following bands will be playing:
- April 17 – The Embers
- April 24 – The Castaways
- May 1 – The Catalinas
- May 8 – Black and Blue
- May 15 – Liquid Pleasure
- May 22 – The Embers
- May 29 – Billy Scott and the Party Prophets
It’s a great chance for true Carolina Girls to get down, and for all of you Northerners to go see what you’ve been missing!
The Black Crowes Coming to Lincoln Theatre
Saturday, November 8 marks the date when The Black Crowes invade downtown Raleigh. They will be supporting their new CD, Warpaint, their first in almost 7 years. It’s the first CD with guitarist Luther Dickinson, who can cook it up and scramble it.
Emerson Hart Playing Lincoln Theatre Wednesday
Fans of Emerson Hart probably already know this, but the "I Wish The Best For You" singer will be at the Lincoln Theatre on Wednesday night. "You…Me…" Sometimes artists try to make lyrics too difficult. Not Hart.
Arrogance Reforms for Appetite Benefit
The Downtown Appetite for Art will be hosting a rare Arrogance reunion show on

. The event benefits the Boys & Girls Clubs of Wake County, and will include an art auction, a silent auction, and libations and hors d’oeuvres provided by various downtown restaurants.
The event takes place at Marbles Museum (formerly Exploris) from 7-11pm. Tickets are $50 in advance, $100 at the door. The event sold out in each of the last two years, so get tickets today .
A VIP lounge with exclusive wines and food will be available for an additional $50 to the first 150 guests and sponsors.
ZZ Top Joins Brooks & Dunn Bill
Brooks & Dunn along with Rodney Atkins will be playing at Time Warner Cable Music Pavilion on September 6. ZZ Top has been added to the concert’s lineup.
Projekt Revolution Tour Coming to TWC Pavilion
Linkin Park’s Projekt Revolution Tour hits Walnut Creek on July 25th. The tour includes Linkin Park, Chris Cornell, The Bravery, and Ashes Divide on the main stage. Atreyu, 10 Years, Hawthorne Heights, Armor For Sleep, and Street Drum Corps will all play the second stage.
Robert Plant & Alison Krauss Coming to RBC Center
She’s a little bit country, and he’s a little bit rock n’ roll…and they both got together to make one of the biggest adult alternative/durgy/bluegrassy/Nashvillian CDs of 2007, Raising Sand . The Robert Plant and Alison Krauss tour hits the RBC Center on July 11.
Gretchen Wilson Coming to Lincoln Theatre
Yep, the "Redneck Woman", Gretchen Wilson , will be coming to the Lincoln Theatre on September 28.
Rock Your Love at Hi-5
Hi-5 will be beginning their outdoor concert series soon. On April 24, Rock of Love star and former Poison frontman Bret Michaels will take the stage. Crush opens.
On May 2 those who missed seeing Firehouse at Southpoint’s Christmas Tree lighting ceremony will get another chance at seeing the band.
311, Snoop Dogg Bring Unity to TWC
On July 23 the Unity Tour comes to Time Warner Cable Music Pavilion at Walnut Creek. Headlining the tour is 311 , with Snoop Dogg and Fiction Plane opening.
The Bravery, Free In Greensboro
The Bravery will be playing a free concert in Greensboro tonight. The 6pm show was originally scheduled to be outside, but has been moved to the Greensboro Coliseum Special Events Center.
Their most recent CD, The Sun and Moon , ranks as my personal favorite CD of 2007. If you can’t make the road trip, catch their appearance on Late Night with Conan O’Brien on Wednesday night. They will be performing "Believe", the latest single from The Sun and Moon.
Funky Street Party at Lincoln
Get ready for a big night at the Lincoln! On May 10 Yo Mama’s Big Fat Booty Band will play with George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic. Clinton, a Kannapolis native, is a funk legend who has gotten scores of presidential write-in votes through the years. He just may get mine in this upcoming election.
3/27/08 Update: Hobex is also playing. This concert is by Band Together and will benefit SAFEchild , a local non-profit child abuse prevention agency. This will be an outdoor show held on a blocked-off Cabarrus Street, which is in downtown Raleigh right in front of the Lincoln Theater. Get your tickets here ! and will benefit
Journey, Heart, Cheap Trick Coming to TWC Pavilion
On August 10, the 80’s will invade Walnut Creek. Journey, with Heart and Cheap Trick are all coming together on their 41-city tour. Philippine-born Armel Pineda is Journey’s current singer. In the meantime, check out this funny shot-for-shot tribute to the "Separate Ways" video .
