Tackling Raleigh’s Busy Week Ahead
The gogo Do It Calendar has a slew of interesting things coming up, and I thought it might be a good idea to get back into giving people a quick heads up on the week ahead.
It is a weekend of homecomings as tonight marks the return of American Idol Scotty McCreery along with the rest of the Idol gang at the RBC Center. The show is officially sold out, but if you are interested in tickets, I have some friends on Facebook who are trying to sell theirs.
Thursday will be a busy night for the area. Carter-Finley Stadium will host its first soccer match in ?how many? years? Ever? as the exhibition match between Juventus and CD Guadalajara comes to Raleigh. The game will be televised on ESPN2, so let’s show the world how much of a soccer community we are by filling seats.
Deadheads as Further plays The Walt. From there be sure to hit the Lincoln Theatre to continue the fun with New Riders of the Purple Sage. Few people will be torn between that combo and the offering in Cary: Amy Grant and Michael W. Smith.
Also on Thursday, Sheng Wang begins his weekend run at Goodnights Comedy Club.
The homecoming continues an Friday as former Raleighite Justin Vernon returns Bon Iver to to the city to play The Walt. Raleigh’s own The Rosebuds open.
Saturday is another busy day, as the ComeUnityNow festival takes over Fayetteville Street. (they billed it as the “replacement” for RWO, but I refuse to acknowledge that claim). That night there are some big music acts in the area performing. The Four Tops and Temptations return and play in Cary while Rascal Flatts plays TWC Pavilion.
Each of these nights Hairspray is performing at Memorial Auditorium and Field of Glory performs at the Kennedy Theater, with their final shows coming Sunday.
Tuesday is also a big night in the area. The legendary Dolly Parton plays the DPAC in Durham while 311, Sublime, and Rome play
The Walt
TWC Pavilion. If reggae is your thing, be sure to catch Beres Hammond at The Lincoln Theatre that night.
For more information on these and other events, be sure to visit the gogoraleigh Do-It Calendar . There is a lot to do so let’s go DO IT!
