Band Together Assembling CD
I got a press release about a nice project in the works:
Band Together NC , a Triangle-based organization whose mission is to raise funds and awareness for select charities through events that showcase and support musical talent, announced Friday at the Lincoln Theatre that it is collaborating with Asheville-based recording label Mended Heart Records on a 14-track compilation CD, the proceeds of which will benefit both Band Together and its 2011 selected charity.
“Music has always been the cornerstone of our efforts to raise awareness and funds for local charities,” said Band Together President and Co-Founder Danny Rosin. “This partnership with Mended Heart Records will utilize the strengths of each organization to mutually expand our reach and exposure through various musical and media platforms. People can support this collaborative effort by purchasing the music.”
The announcement, which came from Rosin and Mended Heart Records’ founder Matt Williams during Williams’ guest appearance on violin with Holy Ghost Tent Revival Friday night, represents an agreement by the label to provide 100 percent of “Mended Heart’s Band Together Compilation for Charity (2011)” CD to the nonprofit. The majority of those funds, as well as a percentage of all ongoing CD sales and digital purchases, will be used by Band Together to support its select charity partners.
“It’s really surreal that in May we were all playing together on this same stage for Band Together’s live event, and now we’re able to announce this here tonight,” Williams said. “After my incredible experience at Band Together’s past live event, we knew we needed to partner with them on our charitable efforts. Now we’ve turned that into reality.”
The 14-track CD will feature prominent local and regional artists such as Friday’s featured band, Holy Ghost Tent Revival which also closed out Band Together’s 2010 event, as well as Williams’ band The Ocean and other regional acts stretching from Eastern N.C. to Atlanta. These include: The Archrivals, Now You See Them, Vertigo Jazz Project w/ Kofi Burbridge (flute/keyboard player for the Derek Trucks Band and The Allman Brothers Band), Josh Blake’s Juke Box, Taste, Moses Atwood w/ Michael Libramento, Woody Wood, Uncle Mountain and more yet to be announced.
“We’ve always tried to incorporate local and regional acts into our concert events,” said Pat Dickenson, Band Together board member and co-owner of Raleigh’s Lincoln Theatre. “Because Mended Heart Records is a North Carolina-based label, we’re excited that they will be showcasing the talents of local musicians while supporting a great cause like Band Together.”
The partnership between the two organizations will entail a cross-promotional marketing platform utilizing print, online, radio, television, social media, video and public service announcements to get the music out to the masses.
