Raleigh Ranks 4th in Food Spending
Flowingdata.com posted last week a graph showing food expenditures for many American cities. The graph is not only interesting for its presentation of the cities’ overall outlays and population, but also the distribution of dinging out vs. groceries. The average household in Raleigh spends $4,749 on groceries and $5,337. Austin is highest on the list with $12,447 in average overall spending. What doesn’t make a lot of sense is that Raleigh’s total expenditure of $10,086 is so much higher than Charlotte’s $6,306. Do we eat 60% more food than Charlotte? Hardly.

We spend more money @ high end stores like Costco, Trader Joes & Whole Food. That’s my hypothesis.

Costco….high end? That’s a joke, right? Even Trader Joe’s is affordable.

With differences that great within the same state – I think the study must be flawed.

I think gogo was in the survey for Raleigh. Skewed the hell out of it.
