Spring Rolls Opens at North Hills

springrolls Spring Rolls , a Chinese/Thai combo restaurant is now open in North Hills. The restaurant is the third Asian restaurant to occupy the space across from Moe’s, but perhaps the third time is the charm. Part of the menu (.pdf) features a wide range of Chinese favorites, as well as sizzling hot platters, chow mein, and “ho fun” selections. The other part of the menu features 19 Thai favorites, excluding curries. The average dinner menu entree price is $11.76.

My early calculations show that this restaurant is priced on par with P.F. Chang’s.

I walked past this place and simply laughed. Maybe it’s not the location that’s an issue, but the style of food they keep trying to shoehorn in there?

    Put a Chubby’s and make Moe’s sweat.

Just an FYI, Chubby’s is supposedly opening up in Falls River Town Center sometime later this year. I saw them listed as a coming soon tenant on something recently.

@Dana: we recently visited Toronto and ate at one of the locations there, with no idea there was one coming here! It’s was pretty decent. It’s definitely pan-Asian with an urban edge; I hope the location at North Hills works for them.

@MikeB: Chubby’s in Falls River?!? That’s phenomenal news – no more driving to Lake Boone… ;)

Had dinner at spring rolls Monday night. Very authentic food and the service is wonderful! We work at a locate restaurant down the street and it’s nice to get good food and be waited on by a great staff! Hope this one stays! Maybe third time is a charm, we like it better than PF Chang’s!

Was in North Hills mall last week and nothing impressive about it. Two best places to dine that is worth your money, Spring Rolls and Midtown 115. Spring Rolls is the best Asian food in this “not so metro and not so trendy” city.
Very behind the times with restaurants considering it’s the fastest growing city in the nation. Bar 115 has a great vibe and good food. Almost every other restaurant in North Hills is corporate and all their food looks and taste the same.

    Nice review.

    1. North Hills is no longer a “mall”
    2. Spring Rolls and 115 are good, but nice job omitting the locally owned, exceptional Vivace and Coquette. Yeah, nothing impressive there
    3. Name another lifestyle center that has as big a proportion of locally-owned businesses. In case you haven’t noticed, the economy is in shambles, and NH has done quite well at attracting and retaining retail in the meantime.
    4. I like the way that you commented 49 days after the post went up, complaining that NH and Raleigh are “behind the times”.

I purchased a dining certificate for this restaurant in late Sept . 2010. After printing it off the computer, I misplaced it. Found it again Jan 3 2011 only to realize there was an expiration date I hadn’t seen, Dec 30 th .
I called and spoke with the Manager, Eddy who told me in no uncertain terms they would not honor my prepaid certificate. He said ” If we did that for you we would have to do that for everyone” And why not. I gave them money in advance to dine , I think the least they could have done was overlook 4 DAYS. I don’t know what will be inthis location next but needless to say , I will never dine here

Kurt, we had this problem on NYE with another North Hills restaurant. My wife reminded me that she talked to a lawyer after the assholes at Von Kekel didn’t honor the 6 month gift certificate I gave her just before she went on bedrest with our daughter. That lawyer said that the AG’s office will stand behind gift certificates that are purchased, and this includes purchased coupons. You may want to contact the AG’s office and see. I have a patient who is a high-up lawyer in fraud in NC coming in today, and I’ll ask her if there is a prevailing conclusion on the subject. You are right – they got your money for this… I’m sure we aren’t inventing the wheel here, either.

Kurt- If Dana won’t mind an external link posted on his site, scroll down the chart to see NC provisions regarding your issue. Being as these owners are most recently from Canada, they may be unfamiliar that most US restaurants will not honor expired free coupons that come in a mailer/newspaper, but will almost always honor any coupon/gc that you have paid for. It’s just bad business to do otherwise, and in many states, it’s the law.

    Kurt,
I talked to the person, but I think she isn’t all that familiar with these kinds of cases. She just stumbled thru and said that the printed date is “part of the contract”, but she didn’t site any kind of experience with these cases. Sorry that didn’t turn out to be a good source for you.
