Slew of Nauseating Music On The Way

While there are some excellent concerts on the way this summer, there are also others:

  • Leon Russell (4/18) – Lincoln Theatre
  • Kellie Pickler (opening for Taylor Swift, 5/1) – RBC Center
  • Chicago (5/19) – DPAC, Durham
  • Kathy “Sister” Sledge, Candi Staton, and Maxine Nightingale (5/29) – Meymandi Hall
  • The Spinners (6/12) – Memorial Auditorium
  • Patty Griffin (6/2) – NCMA Amphitheater
  • Marcy Playground (6/25) – Helios cafe…yes…that one.
  • America w/ Ambrosia (6/27) – Memorial Auditorium
  • Ringo Starr and His Allstar Band (7/11) – DPAC
  • Mary Chapin Carpenter (7/18) – DPAC
  • Joan Baez (8/1) – NCMA Amphitheatre
  • Dramatics, Manhattans, and Emotions (8/6) – Memorial Auditorium
  • Marylin McCoo, Billy Davis, and Eddie Holman (9/11) – Meymandi Hall

Kill me. Just…kill me. Others receiving votes: Jack Johnson, John Mayer, all country acts.

No word on Neil Diamond coming to Raleigh, though he would top this list for sure!

There…that felt better! haha :)

  • OTB & lovin’ it

That’s cruel. Some of these were great acts….50 years ago…

  • Nasty

Cmon, Leon Russell doesn’t really belong on this list.

We will see if people are still listening to Jack Johnson 40 years from now like Leon and RIngo – I doubt it.

  • Subway Scoundrel

Patty Griffin will be a good show. Check her out on Hulu and The artists den

  • Dennis

Taste is all relative. There are some good acts in that line up. You sound like the average Raleighite. Your taste is like the skyline here, bland. Your article is actually nauseating. Hmm, now I FEEL better.

Honestly, “Kill me. Just…kill me” approximates what I often think when I see the RSS headlines for the shows that you do promote on your blog, but I don’t feel the need to comment on the posts since I know there are a wide range of music tastes out there. (The Michael Buble post was tempting, though.) I’m not a fan of any of the above listed bands either, but I don’t think it’s very productive to put together a list of every upcoming show that you DON’T want to see. I’m sure everyone’s list would be pretty long.

Marcy Playground did Downtown Live last summer. I had only heard their hit (uh, and I can’t remember it now, but it is good), and thought they put on a good show. I am wondering how it would be @ Helios though.

Add Maureen McGovern 11/18 to this list. blech!!
