Beltline To Get Roundabouts

The state’s DOT announced today that it has a plan to relieve the Raleigh Beltline’s congestion problems. Citing the immediate success and popularity of Raleigh’s Hillsborough Street Roundabout Plan, the state has decided to implement nine roundabout intersections on Raleigh’s Beltline to ease traffic woes. “We studied the most dangerous intersections and found that the conversion to roundabouts will improve pedestrian safety,” said department official Fred Orangejello. “The concern for the pedestrian on the Beltline has been long-ignored, and it is time to put those with the Right Of Way first”.

In order to accommodate the plan, sections of the 440 Beltline will be narrowed to one lane in each direction. Crosswalks will be marked as the project is completed. AFD10
