Alice In Chains Coming to Memorial Auditorium

aliceinchains One of the great rock bands of the 90’s will be returning to Raleigh on Wednesday, April 21. Alice In Chains will be playing at Raleigh’s Memorial Auditorium. The concert is part of the “Broadway Series South” (huh?). Tickets go on sale Friday morning (3/5) at 9am.

They can call themselves Alice in Chains all they want, but it’s not. AIC died when Layne Staley died.

This is like Van Halen trying to call themselves Van Halen with Gary Charrone as its lead singer.

    This smells like Deep South!

The many reasons to let this pass by…its more of a cover band as noted above. And, I find the acoustics in Memorial Auditorium to have more in common than a high school auditorium than a performance hall where someone would pay more than $5 or $10 dollars to hear the echoes and poor sound.

I guess it is in keeping with all the garbage playing on Broadway these days that this show is in this series. Not that I am high brow…but Shrek, and the other former movies now mega productions…garbage.

Without knowing about the acoustics, I am down with this. They never toured in the 90’s, and they still have singer/songwriter/lead guitarist Cantrell in the mix. If he was gone and Layne was there, it would be a different story for me.
Broadway Series?!?! in between clay aiken, menopause monologue and riverdance?

I’ll say this, I saw Jerry Cantrell at Ziggy’s by the Sea in Atlantic Beach in the summer of 2000 or 2001 and it was awesome. Granted that was a tiny tiny place and Memorial is pretty big, if this show is half as good as Jerry Cantrell in Atlantic Beach this ought to be a really good show.

btw… Its produced by Outback Concerts out of Tennessee, not Deep South.

Saw them at HOB in Myrtle Beach with 5 or 6 self-proclaimed ‘die hard’ AIC fans and we all to a man thought that they nailed the ‘original’ AIC sound. It was my first AIC show (don’t own any of their CDs), and the other guys had seen them at least 3 or 4 times, with both the original and current lineups… This new singer does Staley justice. Granted he’s NOT Staley but the show was amazing and if you closed your eyes during Rooster you couldn’t tell who was singing.

Check out this show. It’s worth it. Every penny.
