Cary Posts Sign Ordinance Survey

The Town of Cary, in the wake of the decision regarding the nutjob who painted an ugly message on the front of his house, wants to know what people think of their sign ordinance. They’ve posted a survey which is easy to complete.

Again, Cary missed the point. On a rainy day in November, I got lost in Cary, and passed this house. I totally understand the owner’s frustration, his yard is a swamp. This is a direct result of the re-grading of Maynard Road.
When Cary Pkwy was built, grading was an issue, especially on the hills, where water runoff could cause hydroplaning. Of course, complaints were ignored, and nothing was done until Cary Pkwy fell in.
Traffic signals are another concern. Townspeople were begging for traffic lights at Cary Pkwy and High House and later at Waldo Rood, but the body count just wasn’t high enough.
Cary doesn’t need to spend money on a survey, they need to fix Maynard Road and fix this homeowner’s property.

If the homeowner has a problem, he can address it in a mature manner. Posting profane comments on your house in neon pink spray paint is childish, not to mention offensive to your neighbors who are the innocent bystanders in your little pissing contest. Can you imagine trying to sell a house in that neighborhood right now? “Oh, yes, just turn by the house where the guy is crowing about getting screwed in bright pink spray paint.”

    Good grief.

Actually, Cary has been planning on revising the sign ordinance for some time and this most recent move is a step in a process that has been ongoing for months now. Though it is much easier just to bash Cary.

I will have to say I am 100% in favor of the guy being able to paint his house in this case though.
