CLEAR To Roll Out 4G Wireless This Month

The growing list of WiMAX (wireless internet) choices for consumer grows as CLEAR unveils their product in the Raleigh market. On Friday, from 3pm to 7pm they will be hosting a promotional event at Southpoint Mall. At the demo they will be offering 30-day trials as well as having a “Drive Demo” that:

showcases true WiMAX capabilities while on the go.  You can take a drive in a tricked out Ford Flex that is outfitted with TV monitors, X-Box, Stereos, etc…. and you’ll get to experience CLEAR while on the go.

Their service will provide coverage to over 785,000 people in a 325 square mile area, including Fuquay-Varina, Knightdale, and Hillsborough. This now makes Verizon, Time Warner, and CLEAR as companies offering WiMAX in the Triangle. (am I missing any others?).

Has anyone tried any of these services compared to wired internet? This concept could be a very interesting alternative for small businesses that have dormant internet connections at night and on weekends.

Sure have! I have one from Sprint that is unlimited data per month (I think), but it costs me about $70(+) a month. My contract is up in March 2010, so I’m switching to CLEAR which is only $30.00. I’ve had their traditional modems for sometime (”wireless”, but still need to be plugged into a power outlet) and it’s pretty good! The reason I’m totally sold on them is their customer service is BEYOND fantastic. Top that Sprint and TWC! ;-)
