War of the Worlds Coming to WKNC
On Halloween night the Martians are invading again, and this time their heat rays are aimed at the Triangle. NC State’s student-run radio station, WKNC 88.1, will be broadcasting a live, local adaptation of the Mercury Theater’s production of H.G. Well’s War of the Worlds . The live performance airs on Saturday October 31’st from 7-8pm, and will be set in the present, including Raleigh area locations.
The production is being performed by the Two Cabbage Players, a new radio theater troupe formed by Damian Maddalena, a doctoral student at NCSU’s School of Natural Resources and host of WKNC’s Mystery Roach. The troupe features graduate and undergraduate students from NCSU and members of the Raleigh community. Brian Donohoe of the band Starmount will be bringing the Martians and their dreadful machines to life by engineering sound effects. Additionally, Skip Elsheimer (The AV Geek) lends his voice to the program.
