Fayetteville Ad Prompts Head Scratching
Bizarre. Fayetteville respects and loves its soldiers, with a some PDA, fat jokes, a hot blonde, fart noises, and cross-dressing thrown in. I kinda like my “Find yourself…in Raleigh” idea better.

Gimme Fayetteville any day over you humorless prudes in Raleigh. How can you knock a town that’s willing to go this far to say they support the troops. “Find Yourself … In Raleigh”? How lame and pedestrian can you get?

Do you remember this Gem?

If I remember correctly, two staffers from the Convention Center made this promo and even wrote and sung the song. Who needs overpriced advertising agencies when you can promote a $225 Million Convention Center using in-house talent? I hear this promo ad was the driving force behind the Korean-American Scientists and Engineers Association choosing Raleigh as their convention site this year.

I love when I read people making swipes at other cities proclaiming theirs “better”. It reminds me of one of the many reasons I love reading Sinclair Lewis, especially Babbit.
My city is always the most patriotic, interesting, culturally advanced, progressive, inviting the future, has the best restaurants, most intelligent people, great architecture, nice weather, good family values….

RonT: soon as you said great architecture, I knew you weren’t talking about Raleigh!
