Looking Back: R.E.M. Breaking Big at The Pier
In 1982 some young band from Athens, GA came up and played The Pier in the Cameron Village Subway (under the current Fresh Market location). (See the whole list from the show )

I actually saw them before this video was made in Atlanta. I remember that shimmy move so well. I was so in love with him. They informed my whole early life. I think the 12 year old version of me had REALLY good taste! Thanks for posting this. Brings me back.

Man, wouldn’t it be great to re-open some of those spaces underground and have a nice little club again…
