Goodnights Lines Up Strong Summer
Charlie Goodnights Comedy Club has just booked Craig Shoemaker for October 9-11. This comes after an already strong Summer lineup for the club:

Idols Live Tour Coming to Greensboro
On Sunday, August 2, the American Idols Live tour will be swinging through Greensboro Coliseum. The tour features this season’s Top 10 finalists, including Chapel Hill’s Anoop “Dawg” Desai.
The presale will be Friday (May 8th) from 10am to 10pm (password: Idols2009). $1 from each ticket will go to City of Hope.
Top Chef Alumni Coming to Raleigh Today
WRAL is reporting that Top Chef (Bravo) alums Carla Hall and CJ Jacobsen will be in Raleigh today. They pair will host tastings and demonstrations from a truck/tent setup at the State Farmers Market today at 10:30, 12:00, and 1:30.
Downtown Live Adds Acts
Four acts have been added to the Bud Light Downtown Live series for the upcoming summer. The acts help round out a few of the dates with some stunning pairs for the free concerts.
May 30 – Jimmie’s Chicken Shack – They’ve been added to the Candlebox date along with Parmalee, Old Habits, and Big Rick & The Bombers
June 13 – Charm City Devils – They’ve been added to the Filter date as well as Bill West, Bright Young Things, The Fifth, Swagger, and Ethan Hanson.
June 27 – Cracker – They will open for The Tubes as well as The Loners, Mosadi Music, Ascella Vega, and Zydecopius
August 8 – Marcy Playground – They’ve been added to the Tonic show along with Green River Ordinance, River City Ransom, Kevin Wing, and Colourslide.
Save The Clock Tower!
Tonight N.C. State went back to the future, as the university’s stately bell tower was struck by lighting. Pieces of the Mt. Airy granite were blown off and the clock stopped working; stuck on precisely 7:55pm.
The bell tower has recently been in the news because of a movement aiming to install real bells. The tower was finished in 1937, but funding has never been in place for the final bell installation.

TMBG Coming to Museum of Art
They Might Be Giants will stage their mighty return to the Triangle at the North Carolina Museum of Art. The concert is September 19 and, in 2009, it is difficult to tell if this will be a family-friendly show or not!
NOAA Hurricane Hunter Coming Wednesday
The NOAA’s annual Hurricane Awareness tour will be swinging through RDU Airport on Wednesday (May

). The tour includes specialists in hurricane meteorology, but features a WP-3 Orion, an NOAA hurricane hunting airplane. Head out to RDU and take a tour of the plane and have your questions answered!
- Tours are from 3:00pm – 5:00pm
- Use Park & Ride #2 (next to the control tower), and walk to the General Aviation Terminal.

Smithsonian HD Coming to TWC
On May 28 Time Warner Cable will add Smithsonian HD . On that date they will also included HD Net as part of the Digital Tier (instead of being the premium HD Tier).

Bavarian Brathaus Promotes Seidenberg
The Bavarian Brathaus in Cary salutes fellow German and Carolina Hurricane defenseman Dennis Seidenberg in his quest for the Stanley Cup. The Bavarian Brathaus will celebrate every goal Seidenberg scores in the playoffs by offering free half pound bratwurst to the first 100 fans the next day. Let’s hope the wieners will flow!
Kanata Offers May Mini Camp
Camp Kanata’s May Mini Camp is coming Friday, May. The mini camp helps test the waters to see if a child is ready for overnight camp. Mini Camp is also when previous campers can reconnect with friends and staff.
May Mini Camp is held from Friday, May 8 at 6:00 p.m. to Sunday, May 10 at 1:00 p.m. and is $100 per camper. Many of Camp Kanata’s activities will be available including canoeing, archery, riflery and more.
