Raleigh to Adopt Metric System
The City of Raleigh passed a measure today to adopt the Metric System in all capacities, including Metric Time . Director of Operations Dennis Toffice told the media,”All of our measurements in distances, water use, and time will, from now on, use Metric.” Water bills will show Liters used and property will be measured in hectares (1 acre = 0.407 hectares)
In the mayor’s address to the media, he addressed why the move was made. “We are one of the only countries in the world not using the metric system. We thought that we should lead the rest of the country in hold hands with our peers around the world in adopting a system that offers simplicity and quality. We figured that since the digital TV transition went so smoothly, we should go ahead and implement this change as soon as possible.”
