So this is the International Auto SHOW and the International Auto EXPO will be next week at the fairgrounds? That’s where Ford and GM (among others) will show?

    This is confusing.

The car dealers sponsor the show at the fairgrounds. I’m not sure who’s behind the convention center show, although I initially assumed that with the higher profile location, it may eventually grow to become the more significant of the two. The website doesn’t exactly say “wow” all over it.

Being a veteran of many Chicago Auto Show events, I’m more into seeing prototype cars and brand new models - mixing in a bunch of old vintage and classic cars doesn’t do much for me. In that respect, it then becomes like any other run-of-the-mill car show. I realize Raleigh is not Chicago (nor Detroit or LA for that matter), but we have the market and population base to have a show that at least tries to evoke a world-class feel about it. One of these shows is going to have to improve on pizazz and quality quite a bit if it wants to make its mark as a significant annual event in our area.
