Uncle Fatty’s Drive-In Coming to Cameron Village
The Cameron Village website is showing that "Uncle Fatty’s Drive-In" is coming to Cameron Village in 2009. This is presumably the next project by John White, and the next version of the concept formerly known as " Burger Dawgs ". White is fresh off of opening Raving Brand’s latest Flying Biscuit location, in Cameron Village. UF’s will be located on Woodburn Avenue, next door to Piccola Italia .

Hunh? Where? In the old Jill Flinks? Will they have the drive through around back, looping through that back loading area? That would create even more of a lunch nightmare getting in that entrance that is there now.

If it’s indeed going to be right next to Piccola Italia, than it shall be the most oxymoronicly named restaurant in Raleigh. I’m totally going to love it! ^_^

DISGUSTING.
Chili is hormel-like.
My hot dogs were frozen.
They don’t have 2/3′s of the stuff on the menu.
OVERPRICED!!!

NCSU Guy is an ex-employee who is spreading nasty rumors about the restaurant everywhere he can under several screen names. He is mad because he was let go.

How do you know, Todd? Do you work for the restaurant?

A few of us tried this place on our lunch hour about a week after it had opened. I paid over $10 for a pretty underwhelming cheeseburger, fries and Diet Coke, and I wouldn’t call the portions generous by any means.
I live in CV, so I generally accept that $7-$10 is a going rate for lunch over there (not including a tip in certain places). We all felt that it wasn’t anywhere near as good as Five Guys or Mojoe’s but seemed as if it had a higher price point. It could have been a new opening issue as far as the food quality goes, but there are just better options around for a burger (Players Retreat included)
I don’t mind doing the “parking lot space stalk” over there with certain places since I know the food/service factor is worth it, but I doubt I’ll give this place another try.

To answer the first comment (question), there isn’t a drive-thru. I walked over today to take a look before they opened. I had just finished an artery busting breakfast at the Flying Biscuit.

I ate there a couple of days after they were mentioned by Greg Cox. They had their BillyGoat burger, fries, and orangeade on special for $8 or $9.
I don’t even remember what I told them to leave off the burger, but it was a big ol’ burger, tasty and was not as messy as I feared. The fries were really good – just like the golden arches but slightly crispier.
I think it’s a bit better than Pharoah’s, equivalent to Five Guys – and I don’t “get” their fries concept – and completely different from MoJoe’s.

I am an employee at Uncle Fatty’s and I must admit that the food really is good there. Eventhough we don’t get free food, it is worth purchasing. I just wont happen to purchase it personally.
