I had been blissfully ignorant of the difference. Now, I will silently curse TWC every time I see what appears to be a sub-par HD channel. Oh well - I have to live with it, at least for now. I have too many trees blocking the satellite services (yeah - that's not a really bad situation... too many trees...)

It barely passes as HD. It's horrible. Here's a sample I took from my parent's new LG tv using TW's HD box: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3020/2682475940_28c7a0814d.jpg And here's what DirecTV's HD looks like on the same set: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3038/2681881549_17b0295cfb.jpg

We are getting ESPNU HD, which will be on 288. I have edited the list so that all of the HD offerings read "HD". Can't wait to get that Weather Channel in HD. (huh?)

It will soften the blow of the check I write to TWC each month, at least a little bit. If they really need bandwidth so bad, I'd be happy to recommend a few of the channels that I've never once tuned to in my life. If only they would all switch to a la carte programming.

These channels have been available all over the country for years. This is simply more proof that U-Verse is coming soon, and TWC is finally waking up. TWC execs are shaking in their boots. I gotta tell you, screw the channels, I'm going to fix some popcorn and get comfortable just to watch TWC tremble! This is gonna get fun! TWC is a dinosaur and will be gone if they don't adapt. TV is moving to an internet-based on-demand model and the cable industry's response is to cap bandwidth and block services like ESPN360. This is EXACTLY what happened to music when MP3 tech came out. The record labels adapted - and so must the telcos adapt to the new video economy.

The threat of some real competition (AT&T's Uverse launch in 2009) is paying dividends. But still no Bravo?!?!?!?
