"Inconvenient Youth" Tour Coming To Raleigh

Inconvenient Youth, a non-profit, non-partisan network for and by teens, is touring 36 cities in the United States with Buena Vista Records artists KSM to raise awareness of global warming. The tour hits Raleigh on October 19 and 20.

“By becoming a member of Inconvenient Youth, teens can learn how to effectively educate others about global warming,” said Inconvenient Youth founder Mary Doerr, a high school senior. “With this tour we hope to inspire and motivate young people to rally their peers and hometown communities to fight climate change. It’s been amazing to see such a strong reception to our efforts so far, and we’ve only just begun.”

Working with Disney and KSM, the Inconvenient Youth tour route will align closely with the tour schedule of the 2008 Tour of Gymnastics Superstars, a sports and music event featuring the country’s most celebrated gymnasts and some of Disney’s hottest young recording artists. KSM will perform as part of the 2008 Tour of Gymnastics Superstars, and Inconvenient Youth will also be on site to provide information about global warming and give youth the opportunity to sign up for network membership. In addition to the activities with the 2008 Tour of Gymnastics Superstars, the Inconvenient Youth tour with KSM will visit local secondary schools and select additional cities where young people will receive the presentation and enjoy a live performance by KSM.

No matter what you stance is on the global warming issue, you have to admit that the name “inconvenient youth” is one of the dumbest stretches you’ve ever heard. The movie name was clever because the premise of the movie, presumed by the filmmakers to be correct, makes our lives “inconvenient”. What is inconvenient about youths?

BTW, can someone at this event deal with a bigger topic with youths, violence? Was that absolutely necessary at Wakefield yesterday? Come on guys. Get over yourselves.

Totally beat name. You’re right, Dana. Broken, absent, non-loving households cause teens to commit crimes and terrorize us “older” folk; it doesn’t cause them to forget to separate paper and plastic in their garbage bins.
