Shucker’s Sold, Moving
Sue Stock recently wrote a story about Shucker’s Oyster Bar in Wake Forest. Instead of closing, the restaurant has actually been bought by new owners who are moving to a larger spot nearby around New Years.
I wish the new owners good luck, and assume that the current location needs a lot of work, but isn’t there something to be said for not upsetting the apple cart?

Dana,
I talked to the workers there about a month or two ago about the moving. They piece of property Shuckers is on was owned by a woman who owned the big white house to the right. She recently passed away, I believe leaving no heirs and the property went to Wake County. Since the property is sitting right beside Capital Blvd and is a major stretch of road the current lease is going to jump dramatically in price when it resets. Therefore the reason for the move. However, I didn’t realize it was sold to new owners also. It is sad though, b/c you won’t see the same “character” as in the current “old and shanty” type shack they are currently in.
