Would've been great if they had kept South running (because I think it's really good!), then just make this French concept their new "fifth" restaurant and put it downtown. But either way, this should turn out to be yummy. :-)

When I read the headline my first thought was that they wouldn't do it right. But when I got to "The plans call for replacing the floor-to-ceiling windows with accordion style folding doors opening each side of the restaurant to the street" I was sold. I only wish it were coming downtown instead of to North Hills!

I've been craving something like this after catching Anthony Bourdain's return to Les Halles in the No Reservations finale. We'll be hitting up Bouchon on our Napa trip in a couple weeks but I just haven't found anything here in Raleigh that fills that craving (without the Bouchon pricepoint). All the french restaurants around here seem too haute cuisine, too elegant/proper, or too light. I love St. Jacques but its not exactly the kind of place I feel like I can drop in for just a bowl of onion soup and some lightly breaded butter. I'm hoping this turns out like the drunken love-child of St. Jacques and Hereghty.
