The Connells to Open The Walt
First we thought it would be Paramore, then it seemed certain it would be the Backstreet Boys. Thankfully rumors were true: The Connells will first official headliner for the new downtown amphitheatre. The boys opened Walnut Creek back in 1991, but now, in the shadows of Boylan Heights , they will open another Raleigh amphitheatre on Friday, June 4. Admission is free ( more details ).
Other bands playing the venue that day are:
- I Was Totally Destroying It
- Mosadi Music
- Old Avenue
- Sleep Control
- The Small Ponds
- Th’ Bullfrog Willard Mcgee
This is exactly what needed to happen. It will be a great dry run for the house and will give the public a chance to feel out the venue for free.

It is only fitting that The Connells open the amphitheater to trump The Backstreet Boys! Great call.

For those who feel strong about the amphitheater not having a corporate name slapped on it, you can have your voice heard hear:

If you prefer a corporate sponsor, please forget you read this…. 😉

Nothing personal RonT but I’d prefer a corporation pay for the new amphitheater, not the tax payers.
