Canes Featuring Alternate Logo
The ice is down in the RBC Center and it features the Canes’ alternate logo, the full gale flag on top of a black triangle. The

gave the heads up on this, as the
RBC Center Roofcam
is now showing the ice’s new paint job. The alt logo, for now, replaces the traditional black/red hurricane logo that has been at center ice since the team’s move to North Carolina in 1997.
The Hurricanes are set to introduce a third jersey at the Caniac Carnival a week from Sunday a press conference on Wednesday (see comments) . The jersey is believed to feature the alternate logo on a black sweater ( as shown at hockeynightinnc among other places).
Until this year Carolina Hurricanes, New Jersey Devils, and Detroit Red Wings were the only NHL teams to not introduce a third sweater .
Update: 850TheBuzz’s blog shows that the center line is painted differently this year, too. Instead of being red with broken white squares, it is broken with black squares matching those on the red and white uniforms.

Interesting stat there about the only teams to not have a 3rd sweater. All those teams are red and white.

Just an FYI, the Canes recently moved up the premier showing date of the third jersey. They are having a news conference at the RBC this Wednesday at 12:30. The public is invited.

Well, last year they had the X at center ice. I liked the old school one, but the alt is nicer than the X

I am ready. I like college football but it is not hockey. I watch college basketball but I really don’t keep up with it that much. The season can not get here fast enough.

And I am soooo buying a third jersey. Even if it has dreadful piping around the shoulders. I drink the kool-aid and ask for seconds.

I’ve always liked that logo better. Its the same one that is on the regular jersey’s sleave.

I like that secondary logo, but it isn’t accurate with only one flag. Two flags signifies a hurricane.

Maybe we become a category 1 once we make the playoffs, then we add the second flag?
